1. Product Introduction

Sulfonated Lignite (SMC) is a high-efficiency additive for water-based drilling fluids. It is produced by cross-linking lignite humic acid with sulfonic acid groups (-SO₃Na) and chromium salts.
This product features three core functions: viscosity reduction, fluid loss control and borehole collapse inhibition, with excellent cost performance. It has great compatibility with various drilling fluid additives including Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC), SPNH, Xanthan Gum and Potassium Polyacrylate (K-PAM), and will not cause adverse chemical reactions. As a versatile and reliable multifunctional treatment agent, it is widely used in water-based drilling fluid systems.

2. Product Applications

2.1 Functions in Drilling Fluid
SMC is mainly used as a fluid loss reducer and viscosity stabilizer for water-based drilling fluids. It can effectively control mud fluid loss, improve the compactness and smoothness of filter cake, and inhibit the hydration, dispersion and expansion of clay minerals.
Under high temperature and high salinity downhole conditions, it prevents mud thickening, performance degradation and solid phase precipitation. It maintains stable rheological properties of drilling fluid throughout the whole drilling process to ensure continuous and efficient operations.
2.2 Application Scenarios
It is widely applied in conventional wells, medium-deep wells, directional wells and complex high-salinity oil and gas reservoirs. It is compatible with fresh water, salt water and saturated salt water drilling fluid systems. It can be blended with common oilfield additives to prepare high-temperature resistant and highly stable mud systems for complex downhole working conditions.
